Florida State at the "very top" for blue-chip WR target
· Yahoo Sports
Florida State is looking to add more blue-chip talent to their 2027 recruiting class to go alongside safety Mekhi Williams, linebacker Gregory Batson, and edge Anthony Cavallaro. Four-star wide receiver, Jabari Watkins, is one of their top targets.
FSU hosted Watkins for an unofficial visit on March 25 of last year, and they extended him a scholarship offer during the trip. He took two more unofficial visits last April and last September, plus he attended a Junior Day event in January as well as unofficial visit in March.

Watkins is set to embark on his official visit schedule for the summer. He has trips to see the Louisville Cardinals on May 29, Arkansas Razorbacks on June 5, Florida State on June 12, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on June 19. With that being said, Watkins has the Seminoles at the "very top right now," per Noles247.
247Sports composite rankings have Watkins listed as the No. 253 player nationally and the No. 34 wide receiver. In the state of Georgia, he's the No. 26 prospect.
Thomas County Central High School is where Watkins has established himself. They held a practice on Friday, and Watkins was seen sporting Florida State gloves. Seminoles' wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. was in attendance, and Watkins spoke highly of the relationship he's built with him over time.
"He's like a father to me," Watkins said. "We're close."
South Georgia has also been a major recruiting area for FSU, and Thomas County Central is just 45 minutes away from their campus. Being near home is huge factor Watkins in where he ends up committing to, which puts Florida State in a favorable position.
"They close, and I wanna be close," said Watkins.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder has been a productive player over the last two seasons. He racked up 39 receptions for 692 yards and scored five touchdowns as a sophomore. Watkins was even better as a junior in 2025 as he registered 55 catches for 847 yards and 11 scores. He helped Thomas County Central win the 5A state championship.
Getting Watkins to commit would be big for Seminoles as they look to climb up the rankings in the 2027 recruiting cycle. He plans to commit on July 1.
