Bruno Fernandes has liked an Instagram reel suggesting he no longer cares about Manchester United or Michael Carrick. The club's captain was relegated to the bench in the 3-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth and subsequently liked a social media post that states: "Never push a loyal person to the point they no longer care."

The video itself is particularly revealing of Fernandes' sentiments, depicting a rock figure attempting to prevent a massive boulder from devastating a small town. After being struck by projectiles from the very thing he is trying to protect, the figure ultimately releases the enormous object and allows it to obliterate the town into the sea.

Following his criticism of United's tactics after their UEFA Champions League defeat to Como, Fernandes was dropped from the starting lineup for the visit of the Cherries, with Carrick describing the decision as a purely footballing one.

When questioned about it, he said: "He's fit and available, but we decided to pick the team that we did today. Unfortunately for everyone, we didn't manage to get the right result. We want to push forward and create more, we could've done certain things, but not enough really and that's pretty clear."

Despite trailing 2-0 at the interval, Carrick chose not to introduce Fernandes, with Matheus Cunha, Lisandro Martínez, Joshua Zirkzee and Shea Lacey all brought on in his place. Bournemouth netted a third goal prior to the latter pair's introduction, while Fernandes periodically left his seat to warm up along the touchline.

Yet another demoralizing defeat has left Carrick on the brink of dismissal, with United sitting seventeenth in the Premier League standings.

At the final whistle, and even moments before it, United supporters were chanting Carrick's name, with the former midfielder acknowledging their backing with grateful appreciation.

However, the moment he disappeared down the tunnel, the applause swiftly transformed into fierce booing as the players made their dejected exit from the pitch.

United face Chelsea in their next fixture, having already been eliminated from the Carabao Cup, with the fourth round of that competition scheduled for this week.

Whether Carrick will remain at the helm at Stamford Bridge is uncertain, with United's hierarchy almost certainly deliberating over the decision to relieve him of his duties while simultaneously discussing potential successors.
