He sounds done with the growing circus in Indianapolis.

“I don’t know. How ‘bout you guess. I’m frustrated,” Buckner told reporters after the defeat.

Buckner is rising as the subject of NFL Trade Deadline rumors. He’s already watched the franchise implode in the era of coach Shane Steichen. Indianapolis fired general manager Chris Ballard following string of disappointments, with that decision arriving after the Week 6 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Indianapolis needed to squash one Peyton Manning rumor on Sunday while the Colts fell in Minnesota. Legendary quarterback Peyton Manning rose as a popular name for the now open GM position. But Indianapolis hasn’t reached out to its Super Bowl XLI winning passer and multiple franchise record holder.

Buckner came over via the San Francisco 49ers after helping lead the franchise to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season. Buckner eventually accepted a four-year, $84 million deal with the Colts before the 2020 season. He later agreed to a two-year extension worth $46 million that includes an $18 million signing bonus in April of 2024.

But none of his Colts teams have won the AFC South division title. Only the 2020 Colts team made the postseason with an 11-5 mark, taking second overall in the South. Buckner also has played with two different coaches during his Indy run in Frank Reich and Steichen. He also witnessed the in-season coaching change of 2022 involving Reich for Jeff Saturday.
