What grade did CBS Sports give the Browns in Week 5?
· Yahoo Sports
The Browns headed to New Jersey in Week 5 to battle the New York Jets in the inclement weather. It made for a sloppy game that the Browns were competitive in, but ultimately lost.
Since the first month of the season has ended and we are entering the thick of the October schedule, some folks are already reflecting on the time that has passed. One way they are doing that is by grading out teams and how they have performed. When it came to the Browns, CBS Sports' John Breech gave them an average grade of C.

He writes, "When Mike Tomlin said 'the Browns are the Browns,' this is the Browns he was talking about. Sometimes, this team can't get out of its own way. The Browns' defense looked great, but Cleveland ended up giving this game away in the fourth quarter. First, punter Corey Bojorquez had a snap go through his hands. The Jets recovered the ball and scored the game-winning TD just three plays later (there was also another special teams gaffe with a missed extra point). The offensive line also got bullied, with Deshaun Watson getting sacked eight times. That number is even worse when you consider the Browns gave up more sacks than they had first downs (6). Despite all of that, the Browns had a chance to win, but Watson had a final drive that went nowhere. This game was played in ugly weather, so some of the mistakes were understandable, but this is certainly a game the Browns could have won."
Needless to say, it was not a productive week for the Browns. However, for as bad as they played, getting a C grade is a signal this team still has some components that are worth holding onto in terms of hope.
