19 Johannesburg areas to be affected by a power outage

An 8-hour power outage is set to affect 19 areas in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The power outage will occur at Mondeor Substation and Observatory Substation on the same day.

City Power said the outage is due to maintenance work done on their electricity network.

AREAS TO BE AFFECTED BY POWER OUTAGE

These are the areas that will be affected by a power outage at Mondeor Substation from 8:30 to 16:30:

  • Natal Street
  • Grafton Road
  • Bellevue East
  • Hopkins Street
  • Yeoville East
  • Bellevue North
  • Fortescue Street
  • Grafton Road North
  • Judith and Gerald Street

At Observatory Substation, these are the areas that will be affected by the power outage from 9:00 to 17:00:

  • RMU 01090
  • Cyriledene Centre
  • Observatory North
  • Bezuidenhout Valley
  • Dewetshof Distributor
  • Bruma
  • RMU 01089
  • Kensington  Ext. 5
  • Cyrildene cnr Hettie Street

The power utility has urged residents to treat their electricity supply points as live.

CITY POWER WARNS AGAINST FRAUDSTERS

City Power has warned its customers against criminals impersonating themselves as its officials.

According to a City Power statement, the criminals send fake disconnection notices, using fraudulent IDs and bank accounts.

“Payments must only be made via official City banking accounts or trusted platforms,” the statement read.
