However, Jose Mourinho’s side face a difficult match at El Sardinero, where the hosts boast an impressive record.
Racing have not lost a single La Liga match at home in the 2026/27 campaign, registering three wins and two draws in five fixtures.
Remarkably, all 11 of their La Liga points have come at home, with Racing Santander losing all five of their away games.
El Sardinero proving to be a fortress
Racing are slowly turning their home stadium into a fortress and have been particularly good in attack.
Jose Alberto’s side have scored 11 goals in five home matches, averaging 2.2 goals per game. They have beaten Elche, Alaves and Espanyol.
Racing have also managed to hold both Villarreal and Valencia to 2-2 draws. However, their defensive record tells a different story.

Racing have conceded 26 goals in just 10 matches, the worst tally in the entire competition.
Their expansive style of play often plays into opponents’ hands, with attackers able to find plenty of space behind their back line.
Verdiblancos have also failed to keep a single clean sheet, leaving the likes of Mbappe and company licking their lips at the prospect.
Real Madrid must improve their away record
Interestingly, Jose Mourinho’s side do not have a convincing record away from home either.
Los Blancos have won three of their five away league matches but lost the other two. They have also conceded at least one goal in each of their away games.
While the fact that they travelled to the Camp Nou and took all three points should be a huge positive, they have also lost at both the Metropolitano and La Cartuja.
Thus, a visit to El Sardinero comes with its own set of challenges for Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Portuguese manager should ensure that his players do not underestimate their opponents or take Racing’s home advantage lightly.
With a packed stadium behind them, Racing will do everything they can to make this a very difficult night for Los Blancos.
Madrid’s last league visit to El Sardinero came way back in September 2011 and ended goalless. Coincidentally, Mourinho was the manager back then as well.
15 years later, if there is one thing that can be said with certainty, it is that the game is highly unlikely to end goalless, and it remains to be seen how Real Madrid perform against Racing Santander.
