Rui Hachimura led his new team, the Los Angeles Clippers, to a 104-101 win over the Golden State Warriors in their preseason opener yesterday, registering a team-high 21 points, five rebounds, and four three-pointers in 15 minutes.

While many were surprised by Hachimura’s display, he insists he’s ready to take on a larger role with the Los Angeles Clippers this season, which is why he signed a two-year deal to join them this summer.

“This is what I do. It’s not new. You guys have been seeing it. But with a new team, Ty and the coaching staff, they’ve been communicating, and I’ve been communicating with them about how much they want me to be aggressive,” Hachimura told Joey Linn. “Especially on the offensive side… We talk about the plays and stuff, the things I like, the things I don’t like. They’ve been good with that. They’re making the right plays and right calls. That’s why I got easy shots.”

“I’ve been with two or three different teams. This is my eighth year. I’ve been in the playoffs many times. It’s experience. Ty Lue, especially, keeps a lot of playoffs and championships. So, he understands me, and I understand him. This is what he wants to do, and I’ve just been communicating with him (Ty) a lot, especially this whole camp,” he added.

Los Angeles Clippers News: Max Strus adds to the team’s growing injury list

Los Angeles Clippers forward Max Strus will miss the start of the 2026-27 NBA season after sustaining a plantar fascia injury in the team’s preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors. Last season, Strus didn’t make his 2025-26 debut until mid-March due to a similar injury.

Strus joined the Los Angeles Clippers in August. The team sent out a future second-round pick to the Washington Wizards to acquire the 30-year-old forward.

As things stand, the Los Angeles Clippers are a little thin on the wing, with Strus (foot), Brandon Ingram (Achilles), and Jordan Miller (shoulder) all on the sidelines. Keaton Wagler, Bradley Beal, and Gradey Dick are expected to soak up more playing time.
