The big hero on the night was Japanese star Munetaka Murakami. The Japanese first baseman delivered the biggest moment of the game with a massive two-run home run in the fourth inning. It was his first playoff homer, and the All-Star’s reaction after the game was quite funny.
Munetaka Murakami’s translator hilariously conveyed that the star’s reaction to his home run was a ‘little bit dirty’
For most regular people, it is tough to imagine what it is like to deliver at the highest level of professional sports in this manner. Consequently, it is hard to judge whatever reaction a player might have in the moment after achieving a career milestone which also massively helps their team.
Based on what his interpreter shared during the press conference about how Murakami felt in the immediate aftermath, his answer was a bit wild but also funny in an extremely relatable way.
“When you hit the home run and then yelled toward the dugout, what were you feeling in that moment?” a reporter asked Murakami. Through his interpreter, the reply which came was, “Well, I can’t really explain it in words right now, but it was something a little bit dirty,” the interpreter said, laughing.
The White Sox have put themselves in a great position to take a commanding lead in the series. If Murakami and their other stars continue to fire, a first ALCS appearance since they won the World Series 21 years ago won’t just be a pipe dream.
