Steph Curry’s $116 million contract clarifies future with Warriors

Stephen Curry has agreed on a two-year, $116 million contract extension with the Golden State Warriors, with a player option in 2028-29, according to sources cited by ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Curry, 38, has spent his entire 17-year NBA career with the Warriors. The contract will take him to age 40 — and possibly the end of his career — with the team that drafted him seventh overall in the 2009 NBA Draft.
The team has yet to officially announce the contract.

A 12-time All-Star and two-time MVP, Curry was limited to 43 games in 2025-26 because of a right knee injury. His 30.9 minutes per game were the third-lowest of his career, yet he still averaged 26.6 points and 4.7 assists per game.
Curry is the all-time NBA leader in 3-point field goals with 4,248; his 26,528 points rank 19th all-time. His legacy is not in doubt. Now, with his contract extended, his future with the Warriors isn’t in doubt either.
The future Hall of Famer said as much Wednesday: “I’ve been pretty straightforward and honest about it,” he said. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Curry was eligible to sign a contract extension worth up to $136 million over two years. He’s never been eligible for free agency in his career and, depending on when he plans to retire, might never be.
The Warriors begin practice next week in Hawaii. Their first regular season game is Oct. 21 against the Lakers in Los Angeles.
“The idea of getting back to work is exciting,” Curry told ESPN on Wednesday. “I feel like I’ve taken advantage of the offseason. I feel like there’s no hesitation about where I’m at physically going in. … But I’m excited about getting back to work.”
