President Donald Trump draws cheers in appearance at Texas-Tennessee football game

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - As expected, President Donald Trump was in attendance for Saturday's college football game between No. 1 Texas and No. 14 Tennessee at Neyland Stadium.

Following the TV timeout after Texas scored a touchdown on the opening drive, Trump was introduced to the crowd and pictured on the jumbotron and the ABC broadcast. received applause in a state he won by large margins in the 2016, 2020 and 2024 presidential elections. He also received cheers when shown on the video board before the game.

Trump was accompanied in a suite by Tennessee's Republican senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Haggerty.
Last week, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth attended Texas A&M's home game against Kentucky. He was cheered on the field pregame but drew a more negative response later in the game as the Aggies fell behind en route to losing.
Trump attending college football games is nothing new. He took in the 2024 Alabama-Georgia game in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and also last year's national championship game in Miami Gardens, Fla., between Indiana and Miami. He also attended Game 3 of this year's New York Knicks-San Antonio Spurs NBA Finals, the World Cup Final as well as multiple UFC and LIV Golf events.
