Kyle Juszczyk’s wife Kristin laughs off NFL fine for ‘chugging beer’ celebration

The NFL can sometimes hand out some rather odd fines. While fines for unnecessary roughness or missing media availability are common, celebration fines can raise eyebrows. San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk recently found himself on the wrong end of one for a rather silly reason.
After scoring a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Juszczyk celebrated by mimicking “chugging” a drink. Most people would associate the gesture with beer, of course. However, Juszczyk, who is nicknamed “Juice,” claimed he was actually chugging… juice.

Juszczyk’s wife, Kristin, who is also a well-known NFL fashion designer, laughed at the fine on her Instagram story. She also reiterated Juszczyk’s nickname and supported his claim that he was pretending to chug juice.

Overreaction by the NFL?
On one hand, the “chugging” gesture is synonymous with alcohol. However, this could be a bit of an overreach by the league.

Celebration fines aren’t uncommon, but this is certainly one that has caught the attention of fans and players. Juszczyk also isn’t a player with an on-field or off-field history that would suggest this kind of behavior.

Every word, gesture and play can come under the microscope in today’s sports world.
The fine docked Juszczyk $14,926, which is a fair amount of change for a relatively innocent celebration.
Weapon-related, suggestive or otherwise questionable gestures are understandable targets for discipline. This one, however, is a bit puzzling.
