No one predicted that Chicago White Sox infielder Chase Meidroth would launch 16 home runs, put up a four-win season, and be a top-30 position player before the 2026 season began. When he debuted last year for the White Sox, patience was his calling card as he had arrived as part of the four-player package the Red Sox sent to Chicago in the trade for left-hander Garrett Crochet in December 2024. Meidroth has become one of the trusted players on manager Will Venable‘s roster since August, and the timing of his development is crucial to the team. On Tuesday, he went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, a two-run single, and five RBI as the White Sox earned a 14-11 win over the Kansas City Royals in their first game of the three-game set this week. After hitting five home runs in 2025, Chase Meidroth entered spring training for the 2026 season with the intention of adjusting his swing mechanics to contact the ball earlier in front of the home plate. That drastic decision more than doubled his ISO from .067 to .138, while his overall offensive rating rose from an 87 wRC+ in 2025 to 112 in 2026. With that, there has been a decline in his physical bat speed from 67.4 mph in 2025 to 66.9 mph in 2026.

Also, it has reduced his reaction time on the home plate, causing his strikeout rate to rise nearly eight percentage points into league-average territory. Meidroth’s strikeout rate reduced from 24% to 19%, barrels increased from 4.2% to 4.8%, and hard-hit from 34% to 35.8%. He has crossed the 4-WAR threshold. He ranks 11th in the American League at 4.1 fWAR. The 25-year-old has the most doubles (29) and runs scored (89) on the White Sox.
Meidroth’s Continued Improvement Will Be Crucial in October
The White Sox edged closer to cementing the final AL wild card spot after beating the Kansas City Royals 14-11 on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium. In fact, the South Siders can clinch the position on Wednesday should they beat the Royals in the second game of their three-game series and the Texas Rangers lose to the New York Mets. The White Sox won their series against the Rangers to secure a tiebreaker.
There’s a 99.9% chance that the White Sox will play in the playoffs and can become the AL Central champion should the Cleveland Guardians lose any of their final five games. For most players in Chicago, this will be their first career postseason, including Chase Meidroth. The infielder might lack the experience of playing for a place in the World Series, but his momentum will give him the needed confidence to take up the challenge at home plate.
Meidroth hasn’t been one of the loudest on the team, but his quiet consistency is a quality the likes of Colson Montgomery and rookieMunetaka Murakami don’t yet have. He is hitting .271 with a .756 OPS, 109 OPS+, and 63 RBI. In his last five games, he has scored seven runs and driven in seven more, better than potential White Sox MVP Miguel Vargas, who has scored five runs and five RBI. Should Meidroth continue on this path, he will become the team’s most reliable weapon in the postseason.
