You know the story by now. Last December, Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss to accept the head coach position at LSU. Kiffin's move was controversial because he left Ole Miss before the Rebels' College Football Playoff run.
Kiffin brought a few of his Ole Miss players to Baton Rouge. Now, those players will face their former team on Saturday night. Defensive end Princewill Umanmielen, linebacker TJ Dottery, wide receiver Winston Watkins, and offensive lineman Devin Harper now play for LSU.
Umanmielen and Dottery impressed through the first two games. Dottery, who starts at linebacker alongside Whit Weeks, leads the team with 14 tackles, including a tackle for loss, two quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles. Umanmielen leads the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and five sacks to go along with 11 tackles.
The pair of former Rebels broke out last year at Ole Miss. Umanmielen finished in the SEC top 10 with nine sacks and 13 tackles for loss, earning a third-team All-SEC selection. Dottery started 27 games over two seasons and lead the SEC with 98 tackles in 2025.
Watkins is LSU's most productive wide receiver. He leads the position group with 153 receiving yards and scored a touchdown against Clemson in the season opener. As a true freshman with the Rebels in 2025, he played in every game and compiled 373 receiving yards.
Harper seems to have locked up the backup right guard spot, rotating in behind Aliou Bah through the first two games. The Shreveport, LA native is part of a unit that has been a bright spot for the offense through two games. He played six games as a true freshman at Ole Miss last year.
