As the WNBA resumes the end of the regular season following the FIBA World Cup break, and the playoffs only a heartbeat away, the Indiana Fever are hoping to be among the title contenders. A big reason for the Fever’s sense of optimism is the incredible season from All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell.
During the premiere episode of ‘No Hesitation Show,’ the revamped podcast co-hosted by Kelsey Mitchell’s Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham, the veteran wing was extremely candid on the season that Mitchell has been having.
“Historical season for Kelsey at least,” Cunningham said. “They literally cannot stop Kelsey though. There is no one in our league who can stop Kelsey. She’s so fast, she’s so efficient, it’s ridiculous.”

Cunningham was joined by renowned basketball trainer and co-host Drew Hanlan who was equally in disbelief over Mitchell’s MVP-caliber season. She is currently second in the league in scoring at 25.0 points per game behind only Las Vegas star A’ja Wilson’s 26.0 points. She’s also coming off back-to-back Player of the Month Awards for July and August.
Mitchell has appeared in all 40 Fever games to this point, at a little over 32 minutes per game. In addition to her scoring average, she’s grabbing 1.7 rebounds, dishing out 2.8 assists and getting 1.1 steals alongside splits of 51.3 percent shooting from the field, 45.5 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 84.2 percent shooting from the free-throw line. Her field goal and 3-point efficiency are both career-highs.
The four-time All-Star has played her entire career with the Fever since they selected her with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft. She re-signed with the organization this past offseason on a one-year max contract.
