The Seattle Seahawks raised their Super Bowl LX banner on Wednesday night. Then, they took on the New England Patriots in a rematch of the big game. Quarterback Sam Darnold exited with an injury in this game. But backup Drew Lock was ready to answer the challenge.

Lock entered the game in the first quarter, and he went to work. He finished the game with 187 yards on 16 completions. He tossed a 45-yard touchdown to Jaxson Smith-Njiba in the fourth quarter to help lead a comeback win. On Wednesday night, Lock spoke about his unexpected night.
“It’s the same thing every week. [I] don’t know when my number’s going to get called. I’ve done everything up to this point… to be ready for moments like this,” the Seahawks signal-caller said, via SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt.

The Patriots had early control of this game. They lost a big piece of their offense, with wide receiver AJ Brown going down with an ankle injury. Still, rookie Eli Raridon scored the first touchdown of the season. And for a good amount of the game, New England’s defense held the Seahawks to no points.
Soon enough, the Super Bowl champions broke through. Smith-Njiba’s touchdown tied the game in the fourth quarter. New England quarterback Drake Maye threw two interceptions late, giving the Seahawks a chance to take the lead with less than six minutes remaining.
The Patriots drove down the field and had the ball in the red zone with less than 30 seconds remaining. Maye attempted to throw for a touchdown on a third-and-five play. Seattle defender Josh Jobe picked him off, and this third interception sealed Seattle’s win in Week 1.
