Blue-chip CB Dominick Harris-Payne names Florida his No. 1 school

Four-star 2028 cornerback Dominick Harris-Payne has Florida football at No. 1 in his recruitment following a Week 1 visit to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The Lakeland, Florida prospect was in attendance as the Gators secured a blowout victory against FAU. Payne is a priority target for the Orange and Blue in the upcoming cycle.

According to Blake Alderman of Gators Online, Harris-Payne came away impressed with UF's new staff. The high school junior said the visit "amplified" Florida's status because he was able to see the coaches' impact on the field. He specifically mentioned conversations with head coach Jon Sumrall and defensive backs coach Brandon Harris.
During his sophomore athletic season at Lakeland High School, he made headlines as a dual-sport athlete — he appeared in 15 varsity games for the Dreadnaughts. Elite speed and length are attributes that helped the 6-foot-3-inch, 165-pound prospect earn a top-50 ranking in the Sunshine State.
Alderman says Harris-Payne isn't planning an immediate commitment and intends to take several visits this fall before deciding. Notre Dame and Louisville will be challengers to Florida as they are also high on Payne's list.

Payne is the No. 316 overall recruit and No. 35 cornerback in the 2028 class, according to 247Sports composite. On3 industry rankings have him at Nos. 272 and 27, respectively.
The blue-chip DB has 39 total offers, including invites from nine other SEC programs; among them, Alabama, Auburn and Texas. Florida currently holds the best odds to sign Payne according to On3's RPM, with a 98.5% probability.
