North Texas was briefly without quarterback Tayven Jackson on the field in Saturday's Week 1 opener against Indiana.

Jackson, a former Indiana quarterback, went down at the end of a 3-yard quarterback keeper during North Texas' second drive of the third quarter and had to be helped off the field as he was seen limping. He was also holding his leg while down on the field as he was being attended to by trainers.

He was replaced by North Texas backup quarterback Chaston Ditta for the remainder of the drive, which resulted in the game's first punt. Jackson came back during the Mean Green's next drive, though he was still seen with a limp.

Before sustaining injury, Jackson was playing overall well in his first start at North Texas. He drove North Texas down the field for an opening-drive touchdown to begin the second half, which featured throws of 36 and 10 yards to Corri Milliner. He was 18-of-21 passing for 154 yards with 22 rushing yards on six carries.

Jackson sustained an apparent lower-body injury during a quarterback keeper run in the third quarter of Saturday's game at Indiana. He was seen being helped off the field as Fox's broadcast returned from a commercial break.

Fox's Gus Johnson mentioned on the broadcast that Jackson was brought into the medical tent for further evaluation on the field.

He'd return at the 3:54 mark of the third quarter after missing a few plays.
