Jessie Rosas, the older brother of UFC bantamweight phenom Raul Rosas Jr., was scheduled to make his Octagon debut opposite Miles Johns as part of the upcoming UFC Vegas 120 event this weekend in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, a wound to his forehead had skittish doctors unwilling to clear “Tachidito” for competition.

So what happened?

“Doctor says it’s herpes, which he’s wrong, but he didn’t want to admit he’s wrong and didn’t clear him to fight,” the younger Rosas wrote on social media. “We know it’s just a mat burn but there’s nothing we can do to change this doctor’s mind.”

Better safe than swollen.

Replacing Rosas, who will no doubt return for another shot later this year, is Gianni Vazquez. “Kriptonita” previously fought for UFC in a one-and-done appearance at UFC Vegas 113 earlier this year. The Johns bout has been bumped up to featherweight to account for the short-notice call up on behalf of Vazquez.
