The Oklahoma City Thunder lost several key contributors this offseason as Isaiah Joe, Lu Dort and Aaron Wiggins will all continue their careers elsewhere. 

Thunder star center Chet Holmgren likened the departure(s) of beloved teammates to "losing a family member," even though he understands that it's part of the business of basketball. 

"That's how the business of this game goes. No team, all 17 guys, sticks together forever. But it doesn't make it hurt less when you see guys go," Holmgren said of the Thunder's departures. 

"At the same time, I'm excited for [Dort and Wiggins] and the opportunity they're going to have in Atlanta. I'm happy for whatever major milestones they reach over there."

But, while Holmgren is sad to lose teammates, he has full faith in the front office of Oklahoma City to operate in the best interest of the team. Given the success that the team has had recently, the front office certainly deserves the benefit of the doubt. 

"I have complete trust in our team and the moves they make," Holmgren said. "I trust what they're doing is to get it right. It's my job to be in the gym all summer to get my stuff right."

After losing to the San Antonio Spurs in seven games in the Western Conference finals this past season, the Thunder will aim to regroup and make it all the way back to the NBA Finals in 2027, though the roster will look slightly different.
