‘Bhai Tera Star Hai’ review: Pointless comedy strains patience levels

In Bhai Tera Star Hai, lines of dialogue pop up on the screen in the form of text. Is this to boost the sagging plotand the unappealing visuals, perhaps? The movie set in London is as pointless as its title is inexplicable.
Vivek B Agrawal’s Hindi film, written by him and Sudipto Sarkar, aims to be a hectic comedy about a bunch of people who’re trying to cough up the money they owe to a bar owner running a betting racket on the side. Leading the pack is the struggling actor Ajay (Raghav Juyal), who’s borrowed money from Fatty (Sanjay Kapoor) and has no means to pay him back.
Also trying to assemble the pounds by any means possible are Sid (Vivan Bhatena) and JD (Vikalp Mehta). These three men are either aided or thwarted by their girlfriends and sisters (Barkha Singh, Tena Desae, Niki Walia, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Niharika NM).
With so many female characters crowding the screen, it’s hard to tell the women apart, or their connection to the men. The graphics should have included a family tree.
A gun goes off but no blood is shed. The characters speak in Mumbai argot but lace their utterances with the “mate”.
