DAZN, 1:00 pm ET Portable vs Okocha 2
Visit solvita.blog for more information.
From Lagos, Nigeria. This is a rematch of a past celebrity fight which I vaguely remember writing up for a previous schedule post, but can’t find now. Portable, given name Habeeb Badmus, a.k.a.: Olowó Sony, Wahala Musician, Dr. Zeh, Omoolalomi, and Ika of Africa, won the first outing. Charles Okocha, a.k.a.: Igwe 2Pac, predicts swift and violent revenge. Both men have Wikipedia entries detailing “controversies” (some legal, some merely of good taste) and complex webs of paternity. The chief support is “Mr Real” (Okafor Victor) against “Idowest” (Adekunle Idowu), who the internet tells me are a pair of “Nigerian street-hop stars” with “long-running beef” that has “taken another dramatic turn” in the form of this fight. There is also real boxing on the card, in the form of South Africa’s Ayabonga Sonjica vs Nigeria’s Taiwo Agbaje. So, something between Nigeria’s Creator Clash and its MF Pro, if that’s appealing to you.
Saturday, August 1st
Pierce O’Leary vs Mark Chamberlain (DAZN, 2:00 pm ET)
BLH will have live results and updatesFrom Dublin, Ireland. O’Leary’s IBO super lightweight title is on the line, so you KNOW devoted IBO aficionado Scott Christ is on the live coverage! O’Leary won that belt his last time out, stopping Maxi Hughes in five rounds. Chamberlain is 1-0-1 since the 2024 loss to Josh Padley that seems to have cost him the special favor of Turki Al-Sheikh. The draw was his previous fight against Jack Rafferty, in August of 2025.
ON THE UNDERCARD: I hope Scott has the settee clear to catch him safely in case of lightheadedness… Because the chief support is ALSO an IBO title fight! Royston Barney-Smith and Reece Bellotti will vie for the Intercontinental IBO super featherweight strap. Presumably, that puts the winner in line for a mandatory against full IBO super feather champ Jono Carroll. Scott can explain the politics and nuances better than I can… Be sure and ask him about it early and often during Saturday’s coverage!
Lamont Roach vs William Zepeda (DAZN and TNT, 8:00 pm ET)
BLH will have live results and updatesFrom Las Vegas, Nevada, for the vacant WBC lightweight title. Roach is a well-respected fighter among true boxing degenerates and a CPF™ (has it really been five years???) who finally broke through in a huge way with a draw-that-should-have-been-a-win against Tank Davis in March of 2025. He followed that up with another controversial draw that most observers felt Roach should have won over Isaac Cruz. Zepeda is a thumper who suffered his first pro defeat a year ago against Shakur Stevenson, but managed to force action on and out of the notoriously tedious Shakur. Good matchup, genuine intrigue, and a promising main event!
ON THE UNDERCARD: Ray Muratalla defends his IBF lightweight belt against Robson Conceicao. Also, Raul Curiel and Charles Conwell (not against each other), and Gurgen “Big Gug” Hovhannisyan.
