Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded the resignations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a day after police action against the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest in Delhi. Leading a sit-in by Congress leaders outside the prime minister’s residence, Gandhi urged “every patriotic Indian” to join the protest.
The Congress claimed that the Delhi Police arrived outside the prime minister's residence to clear the sit-in and detained several party workers.

Earlier, the Opposition demanded a discussion in Parliament on the police’s lathi-charge on protesters during demonstration on Monday. The Cockroach Janta Party alleged that the Delhi Police had fired pellet guns at the protesters. However, the police refuted the claim and alleged that the protesters had “resorted to large-scale violence”.
Protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar have been demanding Pradhan’s resignation for the alleged mismanagement of competitive examinations, including the undergraduate National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, which had to be cancelled and conducted afresh after allegations of paper leaks.
On Tuesday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju told reporters that Modi had called for the “strictest punishment” for those involved in the paper leak during a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance.
