Former Georgia DL reaches massive $57M extension with Packers

Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman and current Green Bay Packers anchor in the middle Devonte Wyatt agreed to a three-year, $57 million contract extension on Monday, as it was reported by ESPN.

Wyatt was drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 28th overall. Then signing a four-year rookie contract worth a bit over $12 million. In his first season in the NFL, he only totaled eight tackles and 1.5 sacks. But in Year 2, he really broke out, having 18 total tackles and 5.5 sacks. Over the next two seasons, he got 32 tackles and nine sacks. Now, he remains a Packer for the foreseeable future.

Wyatt played college football at Georgia from 2018-2021, accumulating 113 tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles. He was also named first-team All-SEC in his senior year for the Bulldogs, getting a national championship in the process. Georgia has done a great job of developing NFL talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Wyatt is a good example of that. He joins Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Travon Walker and Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Darnell Washington as former Georgia Bulldogs to sign contract extensions worth at least $40 million each this offseason.
"I know I got a lot more in the tank," Wyatt said after the 2025 NFL season. "I feel like I got a lot more in the tank than what I put out there this year or the past three years. I know I have a lot more and I feel like this injury right here really is going to help me get above this hump, just showing y'all what I have."
