One month ago, the Boston Red Sox appeared to be obvious sellers at the trade deadline.
A lot can happen in a month.
The Red Sox have won 14 consecutive games, one shy of the franchise record from 1946.
As of Tuesday morning, they own the third and final AL Wild Card spot, and an AL East title is not out of the question.
Now, potential trade chips like Sonny Gray and Jarren Duran are likely staying put. So is All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman, who was given a 30% chance of being traded by ESPN's Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel.
"Here's the greatest truism of the deadline: Everyone needs a good reliever," the ESPN duo wrote. "Teams were ready to climb over each other for Chapman ... until the Red Sox went from the basement of the AL to sole possession of the final wild-card spot."
Red Sox should resist Chapman trade
It's highly unlikely the Red Sox trade Chapman. I'd say 30% trade odds is too high following the miraculous run Boston has gone on.
Unless things go haywire in the next few weeks.

Certainly, fans would turn on chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and the front office if they decided to trade the 38-year-old left-hander.
Chapman still routinely throws a high-90s sinker and mixes in a slider to give hitters off balance. His pitching formula clearly works.
At this point, why the Red Sox would even consider moving Chapman is a fair question to ask.
