Kyle Kirkwood Tops Qualifying, Earns Pole at Nashville Superspeedway

Kyle Kirkwood will lead the field to green for Sunday’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES race at Nashville Superspeedway after delivering a blistering qualifying run to earn the NTT P1 Award.

Driving the No. 27 Andretti Global Honda, Kirkwood posted a two-lap average speed of 196.852 mph, securing the pole position on the 1.33-mile concrete oval. The impressive performance capped off a strong Saturday for Kirkwood, who also showed race-winning pace during practice before converting that speed into the fastest qualifying effort of the afternoon.

The battle for pole was incredibly close, with just over two-tenths of a mile per hour separating the top four drivers. Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin qualified third at 196.087 mph, followed by championship leader Alex Palou in fourth at 196.050 mph.

Six-time series champion Scott Dixon rounded out the top five with a 195.802 mph average, while Alexander Rossi will start sixth after posting 195.664 mph.

Christian Rasmussen continued his impressive qualifying form by earning the seventh starting spot at 195.585 mph, narrowly ahead of Marcus Armstrong (195.578 mph) in eighth. Rinus VeeKay qualified ninth at 195.434 mph, with Marcus Ericsson completing the top 10 at 195.389 mph.
