Uxbridge outscored its opponents, 39-9, to set up things for Tuesday's game against an opponent to be determined at 9:30 a.m. in New Milford, Conn. If the Spartans win the championship, they will head to the Cal Ripken World Series in Stafford, Virginia.
The Spartans, which captured the 9U Western Mass. State Championship last year and have many of those players playing this summer, got hot in the Western Mass. playoffs earlier this month after a 2-1 loss to Milford on June 27.
Uxbridge responded with a 13-3 win in a rematch against Milford, then routed North Adams, 26-3, before beating Nipmuc, 9-8 and Groton-Dunstable, 24-5, to roll into the semifinals against AshWest.
The Spartans defeated AshWest, 7-5, to set up a rubber match in the final against Milford. Kolton Scanlon and Billy Bishop each singled in runs and Scanlon and Dylan Burke kept Milford in check on the mount to give Uxbridge a 4-3 win and the District 4 title for the third time.
Uxbridge is coached by Billy Bishop, Kessik Burke, Brad Creighton and Tom Rosborough.
In addition to Scanlon, Bishop and Burke, the roster includes Dylan Lambert, Trevor Creighton, Jaxson Francesshelli, Paul Robert, Austin Hadley, James Lacki, Landon Thomas and Evan Rosborough.
