In his keynote address, Wadekar highlighted that, for over two decades, MRVC, with the support of the Ministry of Railways and the Government of Maharashtra, has been delivering transformative infrastructure for Mumbai's suburban railway network.

Highlighting key achievements during 2025–26, he noted that Khar Road became the first station to be fully improved under MUTP-IIIA, setting new benchmarks in accessibility, commuter convenience and passenger experience. Four more stations—Mira Road, Kandivali, Neral and Kasara—were also improved during the year. He further stated that construction on the Panvel–Karjat new suburban corridor gathered significant momentum, bringing the project closer to providing an important new suburban rail connection and supporting regional growth.

Wadekar also highlighted the completion, in around three months, of critical infrastructure works at Virar station to facilitate 15-car EMU services on the Virar–Dahanu Road section. These included widening and extension of the existing platform, provision of a new home platform and extension of the foot overbridge.

Emphasising MRVC's focus on innovative engineering, he referred to the successful construction of India's first waterproof pedestrian subway beneath seven operational railway lines at Bhiwandi. Constructed without disrupting train operations, the subway provides a safe, durable and all-weather crossing while helping curb trespassing in a vulnerable area. Its effectiveness was demonstrated during the recent heavy rains, when the subway remained free from waterlogging and leakage.

Looking ahead, Wadekar stated that two major projects under MUTP-3B—the Badlapur–Karjat 3rd and 4th lines and the Asangaon–Kasara 4th line—have been sanctioned, further expanding the suburban rail network. MRVC has also floated the tender for the procurement of 238 air-conditioned EMU rakes, with bid opening scheduled in August 2026, marking a major step towards meeting future service requirements and providing safer and more comfortable suburban travel.

Wadekar attributed the year's achievements to the dedication of MRVC employees and the continued support of the Ministry of Railways, Government of Maharashtra, consultants, contractors, the press and media, and all stakeholders. He called upon officers and staff to maintain their focus on the timely completion of ongoing projects and reaffirmed MRVC's commitment to building suburban rail infrastructure that is safe, sustainable and future-ready—"Building Capacity. Enhancing Safety. Connecting Futures."

As part of the Annual Day celebrations, 37 employees were honoured with certificates and mementoes for meritorious service, an individual recognition initiative introduced for the first time in MRVC. The Rolling Shield was jointly presented to the project units responsible for the all-weather subway at Bhiwandi and the Virar station infrastructure works for facilitating 15-car services on the Virar–Dahanu Road section.

The formal function was followed by a cultural programme featuring performances by  employees. Vinod Mehra, General Manager (Electrical), delivered the welcome address, while Sunil G. Udasi, OSD-cum-Chief Manager (Corporate Coordination), proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, participants and staff who contributed to the successful organisation of the event.
