Penn State's Drew Allar Will Have to Beat One Guy to Win Steelers Job
· Yahoo Sports
Penn State fans who want to see Drew Allar succeed at the highest level in the NFL are very hopeful that he'll eventually get the opportunity to be the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Heading into this season, there's a very good chance Allar will never see the field. Even if Aaron Rodgers goes down, it seems much likelier that Pittsburgh would go with a veteran option on its roster.

Right now, the Steelers have four quarterbacks on their roster, and it remains unclear what they plan to do. Ultimately, the Steelers will probably decide to get rid of one of them, with either Will Howard or Mason Rudolph being the guy.
Some seem to believe that Rudolph will be the guy who gets moved on, with one USA Today writer recently proposing that while Allar has a good chance of being a starter in the future, he'll likely have to compete to win the job.
“Allar is heading into the season as a developmental quarterback who likely won't touch the field during the 2026 season. Because of where he was drafted, his roster spot is all but guaranteed. Will Howard and Mason Rudolph will be the quarterbacks battling for a place on the 53-man roster.
“With Aaron Rodgers as his mentor and proven quarterback guru Mike McCarthy assisting in Allar's development, the young signal-caller could very well receive the starting job in 2027. But he'll likely need to fend off Howard, who's also vying for the Steelers' QB1 role when Rodgers retires,” Andrew Vasquez wrote.
I have a feeling that Howard is actually going to be the one who gets moved on, and only because the Steelers need some sort of experienced player to give them a chance to win. Unfortunately, at this stage of their careers, the former Ohio State and Penn State standouts don't really have much of that.
