Serena Williams was not scheduled to practice at the All England Club on Wednesday, but Venus Williams was slated to practice alone, according to ESPN.

Serena Williams' singles return didn't go how she expected. She suffered a 3-set loss to 20-year-old Maya Joint, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-3. The battle lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes before the match was final.

Williams’ agent, Jill Smoller, said after the match that Williams tweaked her knee during the first set.

The 44-year-old star did not speak about the loss after leaving the court and was excused by the Wimbledon and WTA medical teams from post-match media to receive treatment.

“I tweaked my knee late in the first set, but I’ll be doing everything I can to be ready for doubles with @venuswilliams,” Serena Williams shared in a post on Instagram.
