Jets quarterback Geno Smith was accused by his girlfriend and the mother of his child of domestic abuse on Father's Day, saying he beat her up.
The woman in question says Smith refuses to release security footage between him and her to the police, and she also accuses Smith of not taking care of their special needs son in a message she posted on Instagram.
Smith was expected to start for the Jets this season, but with these new allegations, has he opened the door for the Jets to pursue Brendan Sorsby?
Head coach Aaron Glenn refused to comment on the possibility of the Jets drafting Sorsby, saying he wants to concentrate on this year's team. The Jets did draft rookie quarterback Cade Klubnik out of Clemson, but he's injured.
So now, the door is open for the Jets to take a look at Sorsby; at this point, what do they have to lose? Smith may be headed for trouble, and with Klubnik hurt, the Jets may be foolish not to at least take a look before someone else does.
They already made the mistake of not moving up in the draft for Ty Simpson and let the LA Rams draft him; now it's their chance to correct their mistake by taking a chance on Sorsby.
