The trade will reportedly involve two second-round picks heading to the Thunder.

"The Oklahoma City Thunder are finalizing a trade to send guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks for two second-round picks (Atlanta's in 2030 and the least favorable of Hawks/Lakers in 2032), sources tell ESPN," Charania wrote on X.

For the Thunder, the trade should provide some tax relief. For the Hawks, the move will bring a solid role player into the fold.

Wiggins was drafted by OKC in the second round in 2021, as he had to wait until the No. 55 overall pick to hear his name called. But he didn't let that stop him from becoming an impactful player at the NBA level, as he earned a consistent role with the Thunder.

In five seasons with the team, he made 339 appearances and 100 starts. During that time, he averaged 8.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from beyond the arc.

His efforts also helped the Thunder achieve the ultimate goal, as they won the 2025 NBA Finals with him coming off the bench. During that title run, he made 22 appearances and averaged 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.

He is now set to join a Hawks team that is heading in a new direction in the post-Trae Young era. The franchise went through some changes in the 2025-26 season but still ended up in the playoffs, where it won two games in the first round against the New York Knicks before ultimately being eliminated.

Atlanta isn't likely to be in title contention in the immediate future, but the organization is hoping to build in that direction, and Wiggins may be able to help. He is under contract for three more seasons, the last of which is a club option (in the 2028-29 campaign).

None of the draft picks that are reportedly included in the trade are 2026 selections, so Atlanta still has three picks in the 2026 NBA Draft as of now. It's unclear if the team will keep all of them, but it currently is scheduled to pick at No. 8, 23 and 57 overall.

The draft is now just days away, but no matter what happens, the Hawks can feel good about picking up a nice role player in the form of Wiggins.
