Madison Square Garden witnessed one of the most remarkable moments in NBA Finals history Wednesday night as the New York Knicks erased a 29-point deficit and stunned the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 in Game 4, moving one win away from their first championship since 1973.

The unforgettable comeback was capped by OG Anunoby, who delivered the biggest basket of his Knicks career. With New York trailing by one and just 1.2 seconds remaining, Jalen Brunson drove toward the basket after receiving the inbound pass. His shot missed, but Anunoby soared through a crowd of defenders and tipped the ball into the basket for the game-winning score.

“Bedlam here at the Garden!” ESPN’s Mike Breen exclaimed as the crowd erupted following Anunoby’s dramatic putback.

The Knicks’ comeback seemed impossible earlier in the night. San Antonio dominated for much of the contest behind Victor Wembanyama, Dylan Harper and Devin Vassell. The Spurs led by as many as 29 points and entered the fourth quarter with a comfortable advantage while holding a 26-4 edge in bench scoring.

But New York refused to quit.

Knicks move within one win of NBA Title

Brunson ignited the rally, finishing with 36 points while repeatedly attacking the paint in the fourth quarter. Anunoby was equally spectacular, scoring 33 points and knocking down several critical three-pointers as the Knicks mounted a furious comeback.

With 1:10 remaining, Brunson’s left-handed floater gave New York a 105-104 lead. The Spurs answered when rookie Stephon Castle converted two clutch free throws with 30 seconds left to put San Antonio back in front, 106-105.

The decisive sequence came moments later when Anunoby blocked a driving layup attempt by De’Aaron Fox, giving New York one final possession. After Brunson’s miss at the rim, Anunoby slipped through three Spurs defenders for the tip-in that will be remembered for generations.

Wembanyama finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Harper added 21 points and Vassell scored 18 for San Antonio.

Now holding a commanding 3-1 series lead, the Knicks head into Game 5 with a chance to complete the greatest turnaround in franchise history and capture the NBA championship.
