Despite the greatness that Victor Wembanyama has, it wasn’t enough against the New York Knicks on Wednesday’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals. He finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks on 28.6% shooting from the field.

On Thursday, Wembanyama revealed to the media what Gregg Popovich, the President of Basketball Operations for the Spurs, said to him.

“In the big lines, it was that I’ve been bad and played a lot better than this,” Wembanyama said.

Wembanyama took the blame for the loss and said that it wasn’t his best night. However, he remains optimistic that they can bounce back in Game 2.
