Raynham's Brody Bumila can add another accolade to his already impressive collection.

The award is given out across 12 different high school sports annually by Gatorade for the best player in each respective sport in all 50 states and the District of Colombia.

Across the season, the 6-foot-9 southpaw is 4-0 with a 0.60 ERA, giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 3 hits and 8 walks while striking out 85 through 35 innings of work. On May 8 in an MIAA-RIIL crossover game against Moses Brown (RI), Bumila broke a 60 year old Shamrock record by striking out 20 in his first complete game of the season.

He's also come through at the plate for the Shamrocks, batting .361 with 3 home runs, 13 runs, 15 RBIs and a 1.082 OPS through 20 games.

"Facing Brody Bumila was pretty cool,” Wellesley coach Ted Novio stated in the press release. “Besides the velocity, he's a very focused athlete who handles the electric atmosphere that follows him extremely well. He has very good command of his pitches and variation in speeds from his fastball to his change. Brody also seems to be a very good overall athlete on the mound fielding his position, pouncing on bunts and staying very fluid with his (delivery). He’s the best athlete we’ve competed against and, in my eyes, there is no question he should be the Gatorade Player of the Year. He could very well be a once in a generation type of pitcher."

Gatorade also noted Bumila's success on the basketball court, where he put up one of the most dominant individual tournament runs in MIAA history including dropping 36 points in the final to earn Feehan its first MIAA Division 1 boys basketball title. His work off the field was also noted, including volunteering with Special Olympics, serving as co-president of the Feehan Fanatics student fan group and being a member of the Attleboro-based Catholic school's campus ministry while maintaining a B+ average in the classroom.

Bumila is ranked as the No. 22 prospect in the 2026 MLB Draft by Baseball America and the No. 12 player nationwide in the Class of 2026 by Perfect Game.

He becomes the first Greater Taunton area student-athlete to receive Gatorade Player of the Year honors since former Taunton High standout and current Texas Tech pitcher Sam Lincoln was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Massachusetts Softball Player of the Year. Lincoln and the Red Raiders are in their second straight Women's College World Series final against Texas, where they look to avenge last year's loss to the Longhorns.

As for Bumila and the Shamrocks, who are the No. 2 seed in the MIAA Division 1 baseball tournament, they'll play host to No. 15 Weymouth at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3 in the Sweet 16.
