Canton scored twice in the fifth and twice in the seventh and rallied past visiting El Paso-Gridley, 7-6, in a class 2A regional quarterfinal on Monday. The Little Giants advance to play top-seeded Illini West at the Eureka regional on Wednesday.
El paso-Grifdley held a 6-3 lead going into the bottom of the fifth when Asher Blessman belted a two-run homer to right make it a 6-5 game. East Orwig delivered a hit that capped a two-run rally in the seventh to give Canton the win.
Other regional quarterfinal winners in the area Monday included Illini Bluffs, Delavan, Henry-Senachwine, Midwest Central, Pontiac, Bloomington Central Catholic, Olympia and Notre Dame.
