Good Morning, Illini Nation: Another Hoop Summit tie

· Yahoo Sports

Apr. 11—The Nike Hoop Summit has become a must-see event for Illinois basketball fans in the last half decade. This year's game — set for a 9 p.m. Saturday tip — is no different.

Future Illinois guard Lucas Morillo will suit up for the World Team against Team USA tonight at the Mona Center in Portland, Ore., like several Illinois players before him. The game will be streamed on Peacock.

The World Team has featured David Mirkovic, Kasparas Jakucionis, Will Riley, Kofi Cockburn, Andre Curbelo and Andres Feliz — before anyone in Champaign knew who he was. Morillo is simply the latest Illini representative, building off his standout senior season at The Newman School (Mass.). The Cardinals went 38-3 and won the National Prep Championship, with Morillo closing out his senior year averaging 17.4 points on 56/40/71 shooting to go with 8.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

Morillo will play on the World Team with a quartet of one-time Illinois recruiting targets in Maximo Adams, Arafan Diane, Sinan Huan and Miikka Muurinen. The full rosters for both the World Team and Team USA are as follows:
