Massive Houston Texans' Bust Could Have A New Home In The NFC
· Yahoo Sports
The biggest weaknesses that the Houston Texans have had to deal with over the last several seasons have had to do with the offensive line. An inconsistent running game is a result of that, and it is fair to assume that the poor offensive line has also played a factor in the regression of quarterback C.J. Stroud.
General Manager Nick Caserio is working to improve the offensive line during the 2026 offseason, and that has been evident from his work in free agency. He brought in Braden Smith, Wyatt Teller, and Evan Brown as new additions while also extending Ed Ingram and re-signing Trent Brown. Spots along the offensive line are also expected to be targeted in the 2026 NFL Draft, as Houston has its own first-round pick and two second-round selections.

There are always things that happen that lead up to a specific unit on a team being considered a weakness. There are certain moves by an organization that can set a roster back in some spots. This is often seen when an organization misses on a quarterback high in the NFL Draft, as the franchise usually has some rough years ahead of it when this happens. That is also the case when other positions turn out to be busts.
Houston drafted guard Kenyon Green with the 15th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he never panned out for the franchise. He started 14 games during his rookie year before missing the entire 2023 season with a shoulder injury. He returned in 2024 and started nine games, but he did not play great. He was considered one of the worst guards in the league when he did get on the field for the Texans.
It was clear that Green would not work out in Houston, and it was best for both sides to part ways. He was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in a deal that brought safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to Houston. He didn't last with the Eagles for long as he was waived before September was over, but he eventually signed with the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens.
It seemed like Green's career could be over, but he might be getting another chance. News broke on Saturday that he would be working out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the news was initially reported by Aaron Wilson.

This doesn't mean he'll sign with Tampa Bay, but it could lead to another opportunity for the former first-round pick. If he does sign, he will likely be fighting for a roster spot once training camp comes around.
