Manchester United join clubs tracking Blackburn teenager

Manchester United have joined the list of clubs tracking Blackburn Rovers centre-back Tom Atcheson.

Visit palladian.co.za for more information.

The 19-year-old has made eight appearances in the Championship this season and was recently recognised with an international debut for Northern Ireland.

Michael O’Neill, who manages both Blackburn and the Northern Ireland national team, handed Atcheson his debut as a substitute against Wales last month.

The 6ft 3in defender is now attracting interest from the Premier League and United are among the teams considering an offer.

According to TEAMtalk, he is considered a ‘low-risk signing’ by owner Ineos, with a price tag between £10m and £20m. Atcheson has earned comparisons to Phil Jones, who also progressed through the system at Blackburn, before moving to Manchester United.

United are not alone in tracking Atcheson. Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle, Sunderland, Brentford and Brighton are also scouting the centre-back.
