The Denver Broncos have the Super Bowl in their sights in 2026. The team feels it has one of the most complete rosters, capped off with a trade for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
That trade cost the Broncos their first-round pick in next month's draft, meaning the team won't have a selection until the end of the second round. Recently, Josh Edwards of CBS Sports chose to rank the teams that don't have a first-round pick by their ability to win big this coming season, and the Broncos are atop his list.
"Denver advanced deeper in the playoffs than any of these other teams. The Patriots ousted them in the AFC Championship after Bo Nix succumbed to a season-ending foot injury. They lost more than they added in free agency, but took a big swing by trading for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Sean Payton's team sum has been greater than the sum of its parts. There is no reason to believe that is going to change. The roster is not perfect and there are pitfalls, specifically injuries, which could derail the season, but that could be true of any team.
The Broncos have seven picks, but only one in the top 100 (No. 62 overall)", wrote Edwards.
Broncos are best of the teams without a first-round pick
The other teams that don't possess a pick in the first round are Green Bay, Jacksonville, Atlanta and Indianapolis. Two of those teams made the playoffs last year and two of them (Jacksonville and Indianapolis) defeated the Broncos in the regular season.
It shows that those who cover the league believe in the roster building that is being done in Denver and the belief is that as long as they can stay healthy, they will be one of the top contenders in 2026.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report ranked the top 10 current NFL rosters and had the Broncos all the way up at No. 2, behind only the Los Angeles Rams.
