After the Miami Open, Paula Badosa is set to fall outside the top 100 in the WTA rankings.

Badosa has only managed to win two main tour matches since then, with ongoing injuries continuing to disrupt her career. It’s been a familiar theme for her in recent seasons.
Before the Miami Open, Badosa was already ranked world number 100. Following a second-round loss to Iva Jovic, her ranking will drop even further. However, she has no intention of giving up.

The former world number two took to social media to share her thoughts on where she’s at right now and ended her message with a clear promise that she will be “back.”
“Fear, f——g fear. It’s so awful,” Badosa said in a post translated from Spanish. “Sometimes I feel like I can’t control the voices inside me. The emotions are overwhelming, and I feel like they’re going to get the better of me.’
“Doubts take hold, and I feel lost in a sea of emotions. There are days when I feel strong enough, and others when the mountain seems too high… and I wonder if I’ll be able to do it.
“I guess so. Because if anything defines me, it’s that I always bounce back. That’s why I’m still here because once again – one more time – for my life – because once again, one more time for my life – because once again, one more time for my life.”
Even though this is not where she wants to be at this point in her career, Badosa has made it clear that she won’t stop fighting until things turn around.
Where does Paula Badosa go from here?
Despite the tough spell, Badosa might find some comfort in knowing she doesn’t have many points to defend during the clay court stretch, especially after missing both Madrid and Rome last season.
Between now and the end of Roland Garros, she’s only defending 238 points. And there are already two events on her schedule where she can start rebuilding some momentum.
First up is a return to Charleston next week, where she made the semi-finals back in 2021. After that, she’ll head to France with a wildcard entry into the WTA 250 event in Rouen.
Even though she’s outside the top 100 now, it wouldn’t be surprising if Badosa lands a wildcard into her home event in Madrid.
But at Roland Garros, it’s looking like she’ll need to go through qualifying — something she hasn’t done at a Slam since back at the 2019 US Open.
