Section 2 girls' basketball tournament sees more games postponed, schedule adjusted

For the second time this week, inclement weather has led to the postponement of a night of Section 2 girls' basketball postseason action, as well as a reconfiguring of the slate of championship games.

Section 2 announced Thursday that the night's scheduled Class C semifinals, featuring Berne-Knox-Westerlo vs. Stillwater and Mayfield vs. Greenwich, were postponed to Friday. The games remain at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, with the B-K-W vs. Stillwater game set for a 6 p.m. tipoff and the Mayfield vs. Greenwich matchup to follow at 7:30.

The boys' basketball games scheduled for Thursday night in Glens Falls remain set to be played.

To accommodate the change with the Class C girls' semifinals, the rest of the schedule for the Section 2 girls' basketball tournament also needed to be adjusted, including title games moving to Sunday, which previously had no games scheduled.

Here is the full revamped girls' basketball tournament schedule, with all games taking place at HVCC.

Friday

  • Class C semifinal: Berne-Knox-Westerlo vs. Stillwater, 6 p.m.
  • Class C semifinal: Mayfield vs. Greenwich, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday

  • Class B semifinal: Corinth vs. Coxsackie-Athens, 11 a.m.
  • Class B semifinal: La Salle vs. Mechanicville, 12:30 p.m.
  • Class AA semifinal: Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake vs. Troy, 2 p.m.
  • Class AA semifinal: Bethlehem vs. Columbia, 3:30 p.m.
  • Class D final: Saratoga Catholic vs. Northville, 5 p.m.

Sunday

  • Class A final: Holy Names vs. Albany Academy, 1 p.m.
  • Class C final: Berne-KnoxWesterlo or Stillwater vs. Mayfield or Greenwich, 2:45 p.m.
  • Class AAA final: Colonie vs. Shaker, 4:30 p.m.

Monday

  • Class B final: Corinth or Coxsackie-Athens vs. La Salle or Mechanicville, 6 p.m.
  • Class AA final: Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake or  Troy vs. Bethlehem or Columbia, 7:45 p.m.
