It’s Week 9 in the NFL, and the Detroit Lions are in action against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday. While the Lions are heavy road favorites (6.5 points, per FanDuel), the Dolphins have been a scrappy team this year, and the Lions are entering the week beat up from injuries. Detroit will be missing starting defensive end DJ Wonnum, linebacker Jack Campbell, and top cornerback D.J. Reed.

But Detroit cannot afford to slip this week. The schedule is about to ramp up for the Lions, and the NFC North race is as tight as ever. Through eight weeks, here’s what the division looks like:

  1. Vikings: 6-1 (2-1 in division)
  2. Bears: 6-2 (0-2)
  3. Lions: 5-2 (2-0)
  4. Packers: 5-3 (1-2)

The Lions did their job the last two weeks by picking up two key divisional wins, but only the Packers have lost outside of divisional play this year (vs. Falcons). Everyone else is taking care of their non-divisional schedule, and Detroit must do the same.
