Caleb Williams admires new Bears teammate Jeffery Simmons' character

· Yahoo Sports

The Chicago Bears’ trade for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons paid off immediately on the field with his debut against the Seattle Seahawks. He finished the game with six tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss in Chicago's 34-14 win.

However, Simmons brings more than just his on-field talent. He is also an upstanding person and that was on full display after the Seahawks game as well. Simmons was the last person to leave the locker room because he stayed behind to help stadium employees clean the locker room. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams reacted to what Simmons did.

“He’s an All-Pro guy, he’s this and that. I mean, he could walk out and nobody would say anything, nobody would pay any mind, and he’s cleaning up the whole locker room, offensive and defensive side,” Williams said. “That’s who he is. Happy we have him on our side. It’s going to help the guys. I truly think he’s going to lead those guys and make those guys better.”

During his seventh and a half years with the Tennessee Titans, Simmons made the Pro Bowl four times, was a first-team All-Pro in 2025 and a second-team All-Pro in 2021 and 2022. He also made a big difference in the Nashville community through various charity work. Even though he has not been in Chicago that long, he is already bringing that mentality to the Bears.

Chicago will look to extend their win streak to four games when they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. It will be their third straight prime-time game.
