In a clip posted by 105.3 The Fan, Jones was seen arriving with his shirt untucked, in jovial mood, conversing with Cowboys fans.
He was overheard saying: “Well, we gotta figure out how to run the ball today. … thank you for being Cowboys fans.”
This was before the Dallas Cowboys blew a lead, and then lost in overtime to the Cardinals, dropping the game 33-30.
Jones was pictured in disbelief as the game unfolded, watching from his box. He was seen mouthing “gotta be kidding me.”
Another video clip after the game saw Jones marching towards the Cowboys’ locker room.
Jones demanded the run game. It didn’t work
Jerry Jones’ words before the game showed he really wanted to see the Dallas Cowboys running game take over against the Cardinals.
Prior to Week 8, the Cardinals run defense ranked 24th in the NFL, giving up 126.3 yards per game and eight touchdowns.
The Cowboys running attack could just not get moving.
Javonte Williams managed 56 yards on 24 carries. Dallas managed 93 yards total on the ground, with quarterback Dak Prescott contributing 20 of them.
With this a key priority for Jones, against a below-par run defense, he will be deeply unhappy with how the game unfolded.
Dallas run defense collapses
To make matters even worse, the Dallas Cowboys run defense ranked 32nd in the league heading into this game.
And they did not improve. The Arizona Cardinals ran for 202 yards against them, with Tyler Allgeier going for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
The Cardinals running attack was 23rd in the league, averaging only 96 yards per game, until they met Dallas. Both teams now have 3-5 records for the season.
The Cowboys can’t figure out how to run the ball, or defend against the run.
And Jerry Jones fast looks to be running out of patience.
