Angel Reese may have hit an early 3-pointer in Game 7 against the Valkyries, but Gabby Williams got the last laugh. The Golden State star had a monstrous performance to lead the Valkryies to the 68-63 win in Game 7 and the WNBA championship.

In the midst of Williams’ historic heater, the Chase Center crowd serenaded her with “Gabby!” chants as she went to the free-throw line. She wound up making both free throws, to the delight of the home crowd.

Williams’ final line was 30 points (28 coming in an incredible second half) on 10-of-23 shooting including four 3-pointers, with three rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and two steals.

The start of Game 7 was cagey, with the two teams scoring just 26 points combined. The Dream ended up taking a 30-24 lead into halftime thanks to Jordin Canada finally breaking free from her offensive slump.

But Golden State, Williams in particularly, finally got things going offensively at the start of the second half. They won the third quarter 21-14 to take a one-point lead into the fourth quarter. And thanks to Williams’ offensive explosion, they managed to keep Atlanta at bay to win their maiden WNBA championship.

Amid the offensive struggles of both teams, Williams and Canada were seemingly the only players on either team able to get much going offensively. Reese had a disappointing Game 7 with just eight points and 12 rebounds. It was her third game of single-digit points in seven Finals games. Meanwhile, Tiffany Hayes and Veronica Burton combined for 21 points as Williams’ main support for the Valkyries.
