After Jacksonville handed Indianapolis a 42-7 defeat Sunday, the Colts’ head coach acknowledged that his team had been beaten in both coaching and execution.
“We got out-coached. We got out-played,” Steichen said in a postgame clip shared by WISH-TV.

The outcome dropped Indianapolis to 2-6, and the problems were apparent long before the final whistle.
Jacksonville opened the scoring with a 98-yard touchdown drive and carried a 28-0 advantage into halftime. Rayuan Lane III’s 92-yard interception return for a touchdown with 10 seconds remaining in the second quarter capped a disastrous opening half for Indianapolis.
The Jaguars extended their lead to 35-0 in the third quarter before Daniel Jones found Josh Downs for the Colts’ only touchdown.
Jacksonville answered with another touchdown to restore its 35-point cushion.
In the end, Steichen’s comments placed responsibility on the coaching staff as well as the players. And the next move for the Colts is turning that acknowledgment into corrections.
Sunday’s final score showed the scale of the task, and Steichen made no attempt to soften it at all.
