PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset Is Up for Preorder for $99, and It’s Out the Same Day as GTA 6
· IGN

Heads up, PS5 owners: the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset is now available for preorder. It’s up at most of the usual retailers for $99 (see it at Amazon), and it releases on November 19. That also happens to be the same day Grand Theft Auto VI releases. Coincidence? I honestly don’t know, but if you’re planning late-night GTA 6 sessions and don’t want to keep the roomies awake, having a brand-new pair of wireless headphones for your PS5 certainly won’t hurt.

PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset is a wireless headset designed for PS5 (naturally), with both PlayStation Link connectivity as well as Bluetooth, so it’ll work with other devices as well. It also features simultaneous connectivity, which lets you swap between, for instance, your PS5 and your phone instantly. They're also available in white or Midnight Black color schemes.
Sony touts it as having Tempest 3D audio support, which offers immersive sound that seems to come from all around you. It has planar magnetic drivers, which are supposed to produce “lifelike sound.” The built-in microphones let you do things like use in-game chat or talk on your phone, and it has “AI-enhanced noise rejection,” for clearer communication no matter what noise is going on in the background.
You can turn the earcups to flatten the headset out, making it easier to pack in a bag to take on the go. Basically, it’s a new Sony headset that ought to work excellently and seamlessly on the PS5. And it comes out the same day as GTA 6, giving you a good opportunity to try it out.
This new headset effectively replaces the Pulse 3D Wireless headset that we gave a 9/10 in our review. Here's hoping this new model is even better. I certainly like the look of the new one over the old one.
It's also worth noting that Sony is going to release the higher-end PlayStation Pulse Edge Wireless Headset, which was announced at the same time as this one, at some point early next year. It will feature active noise cancellation, but will cost more. The exact price and release date have yet to be announced.
In related news, for those who prefer earbuds to headphones, you can save $50 on PlayStation Pulse Explore Wireless Earbuds right now at Amazon.
