Eau Claire saw a slight increase in attendance while significant improvements continue to be made at Carson Park.

For his efforts, Horan has been named Northwoods League Baseball Executive of the Year.

"It was a little bit of a shock when I found out about it," he said. "I didn't expect it, being my first year. It wasn't something I had on my radar. It was definitely nice to be recognized."

Horan, 29, returned to the area where he grew up when he took over as Express GM. He is a 2015 graduate of Chippewa Falls McDonell High School.

"It's been really great to be back in this area," he said. "The Toycens are great people to work for. They are a very supportive ownership group."

Horan's first season with the Express was a busy one with the team qualifying for the postseason after winning the second half title.

"It was a lot of fun, both on and off the field," he said. "It wasn't just me. I attribute our success to our owners, our staff, our coaches, our players, our host families and everyone who was involved with the Express. It was great to be a part of."

Express owner Craig Toycen credited Horan for the job that he has done.

"I'm especially proud of Jake because I get to see the work behind the scenes," Toycen said. "The long hours, the commitment to excellence, and the passion he brings to the Express are things most people never see.

"This recognition is a direct result of that dedication, and nobody deserves it more. It means a lot that his peers recognize that hard work."

The Express are busy with offseason renovations and improvements that are being made at Carson Park. New restrooms are being added at the historic ballpark.

And Horan and his staff are already planning for next summer's elite collegiate wooden bat season.

"We are excited about what we did in 2026," he said. "We hope to build on the success we had. And have an even better 2027."
