'The power, the acceleration was there' in Cowboys RB Williams' career night

· Yahoo Sports

Javonte Williams is now tied for the league lead in rushing scores with eight, but his MNF touchdown was simply the icing on the cake of a career night. On national TV despite the horrid record of the two combatants, Williams was finally able to get untracked as the Dallas Cowboys' offensive line paved the way for him to have the best rushing night of his career.

The Cowboys rewarded Williams with a three-year extension this offseason, but aside from finding the end zone with regularity, it had been tough sledding for the team in the run game. They entered Week 7 with a clear edict to return to their dominance, and in facing a regularly stout Philadelphia Eagles, they were able to do any and everything they wanted in their 38-21 victory.

Williams rushed for a career high 155 yards, becoming the first running back since Ezekiel Elliott's rookie season in 2016 to top the 150-yard plateau. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer heaped praise on both the blocking and Williams' exection, saying (via All DLLS) "I’m going to start with the offensive end. They were outstanding. Great run plan. But [Cowboys RB] Javonte [Williams], man, the power, the acceleration was there tonight, but great. Then I’m going to talk about [Cowboys RB Tyler Goodson] as well. It was a great change of pace overall. I thought the run game was really good. [The] receivers blocked well. It was a good night.”

So just how did it happen? Here's the biggest insights into Williams phenomenal night.
