PREVIEW: Stamford Bridge awaits as Chelsea and Spurs renew rivalry

Chelsea host Tottenham on Saturday, with the Blues sitting fourth in the table while 16th-placed Spurs arrive fresh from their first league win of the season.

The west London side have bounced back from a three-match winless run with back-to-back victories. They thrashed Bournemouth 5-1 at home before following it up with a 2-0 away win over Everton. Alonso’s squad remains unbeaten at home in the top flight this season.

Pedro Neto bagged a brace in Chelsea’s latest game against the Toffees on 17 October. His opener came just 43 seconds into the second half before he doubled his tally in the 90th minute. The result marked the Blues’ first Premier League clean sheet this season.

João Pedro is Chelsea’s leading scorer with five goals, putting him joint-second in the Premier League scoring charts so far this term. The Brazilian has also registered three assists.

Tottenham entered Monday night’s match against Coventry without a win in their opening six fixtures. Three draws and three defeats had left Spurs bottom of the table before they beat Coventry 3-1.

James Maddison opened the scoring on his first start since May 2025, while Omar Marmoush netted his first goal for the club to restore their lead after Coventry had equalised. Ben Davies then wrapped it up with a stoppage-time third.

The Blues have won their last six Premier League meetings with Tottenham, a run stretching back to November 2023. Spurs last won at Stamford Bridge in April 2018, their only league victory there since the competition began in 1992.

Their most recent meeting ended 2-1 in favour of the West London side on 19 May 2026. Richarlison pulled one back for Spurs after the hosts had gone two goals ahead, but the defeat left their relegation battle unresolved until the final day of the season.

A third successive league win would strengthen Chelsea’s position in the top four, while Spurs will be hoping to build on Monday’s result and climb further up the table.

The match kicks off on Saturday, 24 October, at 17:30 BST.
